EVERY PUPPY SHOULD HAVE A BOY!

This is a note card I made to send to my grandson to congratulate him; he is now the proud owner of a new puppy.  And yes, I do think every puppy should have a boy (or girl). 😊

I stamped the boy and the puppy, colored them with Copic markers and then fussy-cut them. I used dimensionals to pop them up.  The plaid background and grass are cut from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Fall.  The solids are cardstock by Recollection.

Materials:
Stamp Set: Little Boy (Crafty Secrets)
Grassy Border Die (Lawn Fawn)
Large Stitched Rectangles (Lawn Fawn)
Perfectly Fall 6x6 Paper Pack (Lawn Fawn)
Memento Black Tuxedo Ink
Copic Markers

MOANA CAL - MAUI

It's been a few years since I've participated in a CAL. This Moana CAL seemed like the perfect spot to jump back in.  To be perfectly honest I have never seen this movie, however we have a couple of little "blessings" that love Moana and Christmas is just around the corner! 😊

I used the exact colors/yarn called for in the pattern.  The block was easy enough to work up - but all those ends!!! I even stopped every now and again to work the ends in and I still ended up with way too many! I think it took me longer to work in the ends then it did to crochet the block. 😂 ...so glad it's completed and happy with the results.  I can't wait to get started on the next block.

Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver yarn: Buff, Warm Brown, White & Black
Crochet Hook size H
Darning needle

Another video game themed card...

This card was made using the Lawn Fawn Screen Time stamp set. The background was created with Lawn Fawn's Quilted Backdrop die.  The images were colored with Copic markers.  I used foam dimensionals to adhere the screen and the game console as well as the controller.

Materials:
Lawn Fawn Screen Time Stamp Set and Dies
Lawn Fawn Quilted Backdrop Die
Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Star (smallest)
Stitched Circle Die    Scalloped Circle Die
Scotch Quick Dry Glue
Cardstock - Recollections

GAME ON EDWIN: A BIRTHDAY CARD

This is a birthday card I made for a Mario-themed birthday party.  I combined two stamp sets for this card; one from Magnolia Stamps and the other from Lawn Fawn.  The white background piece was run through the Big Shot with an embossing folder. The stitched circle and scalloped circle were cut using dies and the Big Shot. Because the card already had several layers the only thing I adhered with foam dimensionals were the game console and the the controller.

The inside of the card reads

Materials:
Magnolia Stamp: Game On Edwin
Lawn Fawn Stamp Set: Screen Time
Copic Markers
Cardstock: Recollections
DSP: Stampin' Up - Twinkle Twinkle
Stampin' Up Snail Adhesive
Stampin' Up Dimensionals
Memento Ink Pad - Tuxedo Black
Stitched Circle Die and Scalloped Circle Die
Darice Swirl Background Embossing Folder
Big Shot

JOHNNY THE MONKEY: PATTERN REVIEW

I received a request for a crocheted monkey recently.  As luck would have it I had just picked up a copy of Zoomigurumi which is a collection of amigurumi by different designers.

This is my version of Johnny the Monkey.  I did make a few changes.  I used a worsted weight (4) yarn in place of the sport weight (3) yarn called for in the pattern; which of course led me to use a larger size hook (F). I also changed the placement of the legs so my monkey could stand (with help 😊) as well as sit.

The pattern is well written and quite easy to follow.  The only problem I incurred was when placing the head.  I  wasn't at all happy with my first attempt so I removed it and started over again.  I am much happier with my second try at it; everything else fell in to place nicely.

He is a little over 7" when sitting and just over 9" standing; the perfect size for a toddler's little friend.

This little fellow is now in his new home getting lots of love and attention.

Materials:
Red Heart SS Yarn: warm brown and soft white
Crochet Hook size F
10mm Safety Eyes
Polyester Fiber Fill
Darning Needle

FIRST DAY APPLES

I don't know about anyone else but I'm having a difficult time believing summer is over already and school is back in session! Where did the time go?
I made these apples for "first day" pics for my grandchildren.  I used my Cricut machine and a purchased svg cut from svgcuts.com.
The whole apple is adhered to a black background. I used dimensional tape to add the "1" in first and the "day of ___ grade." I used their school colors for the banners. I also inked the edges on all of the pieces to add a little more dimension.  Once I finished a couple they went together rather quickly; most of the time was spent in getting everything cut.

Materials:
Paper from my stash - black, red, green, blue, white, yellow, and orange
 Scotch 3M tacky glue
 3D dots
 Cricut machine

BIRTHDAY RIDDLE CARD #2

This is another riddle from Inky Antics Birthday Riddles set.  I kept this card clean and simple.

The images were colored with Copic markers and I made a coordinating envelope to go with the card.  I cut the little envelope (holding the penny) from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid paper using the envelope die from Lawn Fawn's Love Letters and attached it with a glue dot.

The answer revealed:

Supply List:
Inky Antics Birthday Riddles Stamp Set
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
Cardstock: White, Black and Lawn Fawn Perfecty Plaid-Spring
Zots Glue Dots
Copic Markers: E31, E33, E81, R20, RV02 & RV04
Lawn Fawn Love Letters die
Black Gel Pen

SCALLOPED TREAT BOX DOG HOUSE

I created this dog house using Lawn Fawn's Scalloped Treat Box and Scalloped Treat Box Dog House dies.  One of the nice things about this set is you don't really have to use any markers, etc. if you just want to do something really quick and easy (although I did...use markers 😊).

Front View

The box measures 3" x 3 1/2" so it's small enough to make multiples to use for birthday party favors, etc.  It can also be done in any color and decorated with stamps from other sets if you would rather have a wide variety of houses.  There are just so many possiblilites!

Left Side View

The box can be used as a gift card holder (or cash) or filled with small treats; even small dog treats to gift to someone with a new puppy. I put cash in this one for a birthday girl who has a dog named Puppy.  Cards are great but sometimes it's nice to change it up a little and do something a little more fun!

Right Side View

I used some Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress ink for the siding and some Wink of Stella Clear for the roof shingles.  All of the dies used for this project are included in the Scalloped Treat Box/Dog House sets with the exception of the grass.  For that I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border Die.

Back View

I decided not to add any accessories to the back of the house; the grass seemed to be enough.  To finish it up I attached the tag (stamped with the sentiment and to/from on the back) to the top of the box with some baker's twine.  Love the way it turned out!

Supply List:
Lawn Fawn Dies:  Scalloped Treat Box, Scalloped Treat Box          Dog House and Grassy Border
Card Stock: Black, Red, White
Copic Markers: 100, BV02, E81, G02, G07, T1, T2, T3, T5 &            V17
Black Sharpie
Wink of Stella - clear

BIRTHDAY RIDDLES

This is an Inky Antics stamp set called Birthday Riddles.  These are so much fun and great for those "hard to pick a card for" ages...too young for adult cards but too old for juvenile cards.  I love that the card is different from any you will find in the store.

The recipient uses the penny to scratch off the gray area and this is what he/she will reveal!

And the inside of the card...

GIFT "BAG" AND FINTASTIC TAG

I made this tag to coordinate with the card in my previous post.  I kept it very simple.  The fish bowl was colored with Copic markers.  The coral and fish were colored, die cut and adhered to the fish bowl.  The fish was adhered with a 3D adhesive square.

I printed "This tag is good for one visit to Build A Bear" on the back of the tag as the animal the birthday girl wants was not available prior to her birthday.  The tag was tucked into this little gift bag (aka: sand pail 😉).

The bucket was cut with my Cricut machine; the cut is a file from SVGcuts.com. The crab is adhered directly to the pail and the star fish was adhered with 3D foam dots. I used the dots embossing folder to emboss the top layer of the star fish and popped that up as well.   I stamped the tissue paper using images from two stamp sets (listed below) to create my own designer paper to add to the pail.

Supply List:

TAG:
Copic Markers: 0  B00 B000 E21  E31  T1 YR04  R21  R22
White Cardstock
Tuxedo Black Momento Ink        Wink of Stella - clear

FINTASTIC FRIENDS - A BIRTHDAY CARD

I got this card idea from a Lawn Fawn video created by Yainea.  I made a couple of minor changes but the layout was taken from the video.

The changes I made: 1) I did not use water in mine.  I used hair gel instead (the gel has little bubbles in it which I think enhances the overall effect).  2) I did not use the plastic sheet in front of the bowl.  I really liked the way it looked without it.

I did all of my stamping and coloring separately, fussy-cut the shapes and popped them up using 3-D adhesive.  I used Copic markers to color the images.

I love this technique!  When you press on the "water" it looks like the fish are actually moving around; plus it gives the bowl a 3-dimensional look.

This is my finished card along with its coordinating envelope.

And the inside of the card -

I cut a wave from the same pattern paper used on the front of the card and placed it at the bottom inside of the card.

Materials used for this project:

Stamp(s) Sets & Dies(d):  Lawn Fawn Fintastic Friends (s/d)
                                  Lawn Fawn Party Animals (s)(sentiment)

Lawn Fawn Stitched Wave Border (d)

   Bowl:  B60  0
   Sand:  E21  E31
   Seaweed:  G14  YG0000  0

BB DRAGON

HOTH: BB DRAGON (pattern by AmigurumiBB)

This is the latest project from my crochet hook.  I probably shouldn't even admit this but I started this some time ago.  I didn't have a thread color I liked for the eyes so I set it aside until I could get something I was happy with and, well...
At any rate, I finally remembered my little friend.  I love the color combination of purple with turquoise, teal, and/or aqua.   I found this pretty aqua color at A C Moore and got to work.
She was a little challenging when it came to the row of spikes down her back but it's a fun pattern.  I stuffed her pretty firm however  she is still "cuddly" and will make a great playmate for any child.
I'm pleased with the way she turned out.  I think I may have to try a few more color combinations so she will have some friends to hang out with!

Here's a view from the side:

And a view from the back:

I love those wings!  They are double thickness so they hold their shape well. :)

Materials used for this project:

Red Heart Super Saver yarn: Pale Plum and Soft White
Size 10 crochet thread: Black, Aqua and White
Size G crochet hook
Fiberfill

LAWN FAWN "VILLAGE SHOPS"

This card features Lawn Fawn's Village Shops stamp set and dies. This is the ideal card for someone who likes to shop!

I used the same basic layout as my previous card but this time making it a horizontal card. The images were colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The sky was created using Tim Holtz distress ink (Broken China).  The banner was cut from Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid (Spring) paper and the heart from pink glitter paper.  I attached the die-cut images directly to the squares.

(card front)

I added a pocket, cut from the same Perfectly Plaid paper pad, to the inside to hold a gift card (or cash!).  I thought it went nicely with the card's theme. 😊

This card features Lawn Fawn's Wild for You stamp set and dies.  All of the critters, wearing their party hats, are ready to help the birthday boy/girl celebrate his/her special day!

The images were colored with Prismacolor pencils. After cutting them out with their matching dies they were trimmed to fit in the individual boxes.  All of the images were attached using 3D foam and the lines of the butterflies were drawn free-hand with a black marker. I left the inside blank for a personal message.

This card is just so bright and cheerful it would put a smile on anyone's face; love the little critters!

STAMPIN' UP "BEAUTIFUL YOU"

This card features Stampin' Up's Beautiful You stamp set.  The image was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol. I was going for a more vintage look so I inked the edges on all my pieces with Tim Holtz's Tea Dye distress inks.  The inside was left blank for a personal message - a clean and simple card.

STAMPIN' UP "COUNTRY LIVIN"

MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

This is one of the images from Stampin' Up's Country Livin' stamp set.  The image was stamped directly onto the card stock and then colored with Prismacolor markers.  I used Gamsol to blend the colors.  I'm not really sure why I don't use my pencils more; I really like the end result.  The inside was left blank for a personal message.

One of these days maybe I will figure out how to take a decent photograph so the card sits square in the frame (which it does in real time)! 😄

SHAKER CARD

HOW YOU BEAN? SHAKER CARD W/STARS ADD-ON

I used Lawn Fawn's How You Bean? and How You Bean?Stars Add-On stamp sets and dies as well as the How You Bean?Shaker Add-On dies to complete this card.
The images were colored with Copic markers and then Wink of Stella (clear) was added to some of the stars to give it a little sparkle.  I used Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring and Watercolor Wishes papers for my card background.  I cut some additional stars from the Perfectly Plaid paper and added those as well as some pearlescent glitter stars to the shaker.

This card is actually a graduation card to be received twelve years from now.  It went into a "Time Capsule" for my granddaughter along with a note from nana (😊) on the day she graduated from kindergarten.   The capsule will be opened on the day she graduates from high school. I love that my daughter did this for my granddaughter. What wonderful memories for her...

ALL-PURPOSE CARD

YOU ARE AWESOME

I needed a card for a young man graduating from 8th grade...always a difficult task for me.  I had to make something that is masculine and not too juvenile.  This is what I came up with.
I used Stampin' Up's Marquee Messages stamp set. This set is really quite versatile and would work nicely for any occasion and/or age as well as either gender.
The image was colored with the new Stampin Blends alcohol markers. When the card was finished I used Glossy Accents to fill in the lights; giving it just a little dimension.

The inside of the card reads:

BIRTHDAY CARD USING LAWN FAWN REVEAL WHEEL

SWEETEST FLAVOR BIRTHDAY CARD

This card features the new Lawn Fawn release Sweetest Flavor stamp set and dies as well as the new Reveal Wheel dies.
The cone and cherry were colored with Copic markers.  I used watercolors for the ice cream "flavors" and stamped the cone/cherry images on the background using Sahara Sand ink pad from Stampin' Up.

The recipient simply turns the wheel to reveal different flavors of ice cream!  This set is so much fun to work with; the possibilities are endless. I'm sure I'll be pulling this set out often.

SLIDER BIRTHDAY CARD

COASTER CRITTERS BIRTHDAY CARD

This card was made using the new Coaster Critters Stamp Set and Dies from Lawn Fawn.  The images were colored with Copic markers. The sky and grassy area were created using Tim Holtz distress inks.
The roller coaster "track" was cut with the slide on over die that goes with the stamp set.  This allows the car to move (slide) along the track. The bunny and the bear are attached with adhesive foam dots to add a little more dimension.

BIRTHDAY CARD

I used the Birthday Kids stamp set from Crafty Secrets to complete this card.  Unfortunately this stamp set is no longer available.  This is one of my favorite "go to" sets for toddler birthday cards.  The children in the set are so sweet!

I used Copic markers to color the image.  The balloon was fussy cut and then a piece of crochet cotton was attached for the string.  I used my stitched circle dyes to create the matted frame. The printed papers are from Lawn Fawn.

Thanks for looking!  Have an incredible day and Happy Crafting!

CREAMY CHICKEN AND BISCUITS

I have thousands of pins on my Pinterest account that I keep meaning to "get to" so I decided this recipe would be a good place to start (and it was)!

This is a pin for Creamy Chicken and Biscuits from The Merchant Baker. I did not use her biscuit recipe because I have a favorite from Taste of Home that I really like. I also used mixed vegetables instead of the peas and carrots (it's the only way I can "sneak" lima beans into a meal around here! 😊).
I made the chicken mixture first and then mixed up my biscuits while the chicken simmered on low; so the biscuits were fresh out of the oven and the chicken and veggies were piping hot.  This recipe is wonderful and so easy to make - perfect for a cold winter evening.

 Happy Cooking!

BAKING CHEF

(crochet)

This sweet little Baker's Set fits an 18 inch doll.  The pattern can be found at redheart.com and includes a pattern for the chef hat, apron, mixing bowl, oven mitts, birthday cake, and cherry pie.

I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in the following colors: pretty n pink, soft white, minty, bright yellow, cherry red, buff, and gray.
I think I'll make a couple more pies; perhaps a "peach" pie and a "blue"berry pie.  Another bowl or two would be nice also...

Here's a close-up of the birthday cake.

Here's one final picture of my little baker; she has just taken a fresh baked cherry pie from the oven!  (Love those little oven mitts 😊)

Have a blessed day and Happy Crocheting!
