BEAM ME UP - A BIRTHDAY CARD

I created the background for this card using Tim Holtz distress inks.  Stars were added by flicking water and pearlescent paints on the surface.  It does not show up well in the picture but the background has a lot of shimmer and sparkle to it.

The spaceship, martians and flag are from Lawn Fawn's BEAM ME UP and the planets are from OUT OF THIS WORLD.  I used a stitched circle die to cut the planet the martians are standing on.  I covered the surface with distress ink and flicked water onto it then debossed it to create the little craters on the planet's surface.  I used Glossy Accents on the martians' eyes and the space ship and of course I was very generous with my Wink of Stella pen!

The real magic happens when you open the card.  There is a party going on inside!  The background and the planet are a continuation from the front; created in the same way.  The balloons, larger party hat and gifts are from PARTY ANIMALS.

These sets work very well together making this such a fun card.  I love the sentiment on the front "Take me to your cake."  I do believe that Martian's name is Arthur! 😊
Have an Out of This World day and Happy Stamping!

YOU'RE OWLSOME - A GRADUATION CARD

A cute and simple graduation card...
This card was for my granddaughter who graduated from college this year.  I started out with the traditional blue and white but it just seemed so plain so I decided to incorporate the college colors instead; I love the way it turned out.  I even managed to find a piece of cardstock in my stash that matched the color of the mortarboard perfectly - that just never seems to happen!

This cute little stamp set, Lawn Fawn's YOU'RE OWLSOME, made everything so easy.  The images are easy to color and there are coordinating dies to cut them with.  I just love it when things come together without too much fuss.  I'm sure I will be coming back to this stamp set often.

Because I knew this card would be hand delivered I used Lawn Fawn's SIMPLY CELEBRATE SPRING set to stamp the graduation caps on the front of the envelope and then colored them using the same copic colors that were used on the card.

I added Glossy Accents to the glasses (love those glasses!) and Wink of Stella to all of the graduation caps and tassels for a finishing touch.

For some added dimension I put the owl and the yellow frame on dimensionals.

.I generally leave the inside of the card blank but I decided to stamp a sentiment in this one.  There was still ample room to include a personal message.

BALLERINA BEAR

I've had this sweet little bear pinned on one of my Pinterest boards for quite some time (since 2016).  I finally decided to make her; unfortunately when I clicked on the picture I received the message "Error 404 not found."  It does go to a page marked "Amigurumi Today" however so apparently they originally posted the pattern.

Not being able to locate the pattern I did my best to replicate it.  It's not perfect but I'm pleased with the end result and the recipient was very pleased - which is all that really matters!

I gave her jointed legs and arms so she can sit or stand. Here she is standing all by herself (below).  I think her nice "round" figure aids in this as well as making her very huggable and cuddly.

I made a couple of minor changes.  The first being the ties on the ballet slippers. While it looks like the original has a strand of yarn wrapped around and tied for the straps I chose to make ties of single crochet which makes them sturdier and hopefully they will wear better after much play.

I also changed her little tutu. Rather than using a piece of  ruffled lace I used pieces of tulle as that is what I had on hand. I love the nice full look it gives.

I fiddled with the little head piece for some time - seemed to me it should have been the simplest part of the whole thing - but it wasn't - at least not for me!  I actually decided to just leave it off entirely at one point but found myself going back to it.  I finally settled for this one.  I was glad I decided to include it, the recipients sister had a very similar headpiece as part of her costume for her dance recital; it was clearly meant to be, right?

The bear was crocheted with a size D aluminum hook and Red Heart Super Saver yarn in the following colors: Lavendar, White, and Petal Pink; eyesbrows and nose were worked in black using embroidery stitches.  I used safety eyes for the eyes (I'm not sure what size they are, sorry. I just found a size I thought looked good from my stash.) As a final touch I added a bit of blush to her cheeks.  And of course there's the fiber fill - lots and lots of it!

I attached all pieces securely to the doll so there are no removable items - no searching for missing slippers, headpieces, etc., which can only be a good thing.

HAPPY HIPPOS BIRTHDAY CARD

I have another birthday card; this one featuring MFT's Happy Hippo set.  This is every bit as sweet as the Adorable Elephants - I would have a difficult time choosing a favorite between the two!

This card was made for a toddler's second birthday. I cut the #2 using the Number's Die set (retired) from Stampin' Up.  The sky was created using MFT's cloud stencil and Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink. The images were colored with Prismacolor pencils. I stamped the sentiment and inked the banner with Stampin' Up's Blushing Bride.  I used a grassy borders die and cut some Water Color Wash paper for the grass.  The numeral "2" is also cut from Water Color Wash.
I used foam dimensionals to adhere the elephant, bird, balloons and the "2" to the front of the card.

The inside of the card is a continuation of the front with the added surprise of a pop-up box and more images from the Happy Hippos set  to create a birthday party scene. And of course no card is complete without some sparkle.  I used Wink of Stella on the cupcake frosting, the bow on the gift, the balloons and the party hats.
I love the way this turned out!

Here is a close-up of the box:

I've had this die for quite some time, I don't know why it took me so long to use it.  I love the effect and it's really quite simple to construct.  I can't wait to try it in some other cards.

Have a blessed day and happy crafting!

ADORABLE ELEPHANTS BIRTHDAY CARD

This sweet birthday card features My Favorite Things stamp set "Adorable Elephants."  I love every image in this set - they are absolutely adorable, just as the name implies!

The images were colored with Copic markers and popped up using foam dimensionals.  I created the clouds with MFT's cloud stencil and Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink.  The grass was done with Cracked Pistachio distress ink.

Here is the inside of the card:

PATTERN REVIEW

BACK ZIPPERED HOODED BABY SWEATER

I love this little hooded sweater.  I made this for one of my little ones many years ago and it's still a favorite.  The pattern works up rather quickly; the only downfall is sewing the zipper in (at least for me)!  That task is right up there with weaving in the ends. 😏
It's well worth the time and effort in the end though.

This sweater is a size 18months however the pattern includes directions for sizes 6 and 12 months as well.

( The shoulders are actually even although you can't tell it by this picture.  I didn't catch that until I went to post it! LOL)

The sweater was made with Mary Maxim Twinke yarn in Soft Plum and needle sizes 3 & 5.  I used circular size 3 needles for the trim around the face.

This is a paid pattern from Mary Maxim.  If you're interested in making one yourself you can find the pattern at

Happy Knitting, have a fantastic day!

DUH-NUH BIRTHDAY CARD

This is a great card to make in a pinch (a.k.a. - at the last minute!).

I created a sky using My Favorite Things Mini Cloud Stencil and Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink. I'm positively obsessed with creating these clouds; so much fun! I love the way they look even though I do get a little heavy-handed with the ink; something I need to work on.

The waves were created using the waves from Lawn Fawn's "Shadow Box Card Ocean Add-On." I used Lawn Fawn's "Duh-Nuh" stamp set and fussy-cut the shark, shark fins and small fish by hand.  The images were colored with Copic markers.  The birds are from Lawn Fawn's "Happy Village."

I rounded the corners of the card base with the 1/2" CROP-A-DILE CORNER CHOMPER, inked it up with Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink and drew a speech bubble in the lower left-hand corner where I stamped my birthday "text" message.

I love this little stamp set. It's perfect for a masculine card or for pre-teen/teenage years, which are always a challenge for me in the world of card-making.

Have a JAWSOME day and Happy Crafting!
