FREE PATTERN - KNIT
SNOWDROP LACE COWL
circumference approx. 27", height 7.5"
This is the same pattern as the scarf I posted last week. I created this one for those of you who prefer cowls. The pattern is worked on circular needles which means no seams; yea! The cowl's height can easily be changed by adding/subtracting pattern repeats, and of course the circumference by adding/subtracting the number of cast-on stitches (just make sure you add or subtract in multiples of 8!). I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn for this pattern.
Materials:
1 skein med. worsted weight yarn (4)
size 10 circular needles ( 16" to 29")
Cast on 89 stitches. Being careful not to twist stitches, bring 1st stitch cast on to the tip of the left-hand needle. (Last st cast on will be on right-hand needle - if you're right handed :) ) Slip the 1st stitch from the right needle to the left needle; place a stitch marker on the right needle.
Begin border:
Rnd 1: K2tog, p1, * k1, p1; rep from * to marker. Slip marker. (88 stitches)
Rnd 2: * P1, k1; rep from * to marker. Slip marker.
Rnd 3: * K1, p1; rep from * to marker. Slip marker.
Rnd 4: * YO, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k5; rep from * to marker. Slip marker.
Rnds 5, 7, 9, & 11: Knit around. Slip marker.
Rnd 6: Rep rnd 4.
Rnd 8: * YO, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, k3; rep from * to marker. Slip marker.
Rnd 10: * YO, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k1; rep from * to marker. Slip marker.
Rnds 12 - 43: Repeat rounds 4 - 11 four times more.
Border:
Rep rnd 3.
Rep rnd 2.
Rep rnd 3.
Bind off in purl. Work in ends and you're done!
Happy Knitting!
